As you can imagine, there are lots of things that go into creating a Halloween house, each of which has many steps and checkpoints. How do I keep track of it all? Every year, when I get a sense of the items that need to be created, I think through all the steps necessary to create each item and compile a master list of things to do. It lists, on one long page, the different tasks that need to be completed in order to realize our vision.
I often draw out items on the list to help me visualize them. As we progress through the process of building the house more and more things get checked off leaving fewer and fewer tasks on the list. This helps us remember what to do next, or what to shift over to in case one project stalls.
