One great part of the movie Up is Kevin the Bird! She is a wonderful, colorful mom who we definitely wanted to include in the Halloween house.
But Kevin is very tall and creating a full-sized Kevin would be quite a challenge.
Enter the Kevin inflatable innertube! We got this for use in the ocean, but when it came time for Halloween, we realized that the head and neck were essentially life-sized! We intended to inflate the innertube and somehow use it for the Halloween house.
Unfortunately, after we had used the Kevin innertube in the ocean, she developed a hole, making it so that she could no longer hold air. BUT, we persisted and decided to still use her anyway. We decided that for our Halloween house, Kevin had decided to hide away in a box being shipped from Paradise falls.
So, I created a ‘Paradise Falls’ stencil on the computer and cut the letters out of poster board using a laser cutter.
At our painting day, Bich used the stencil to paint ‘Paradise Falls’ on the side of a box.
We then stuffed Kevin with bubble wrap, added a thick cardboard tube in her neck to keep her upright, and positioned her in the box with packing materials to show that she just popped out of the box after the long trek from Paradise falls.
